Meet Emily

Smiling woman with long blonde hair and bright eyes.

My Story is Your Story

This isn’t the story of someone who has always had it easy in the health or body department. I’ve spent years navigating weight struggles, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, digestive issues, exhaustion, hormone rollercoasters, and the frustration of being told over and over that losing weight would solve my problems — without anyone really helping me understand why I felt the way I did.

Eventually, I started looking beyond the usual advice and became fascinated by the connection between food, lifestyle, our biology, and how we actually feel. I stopped making weight loss the goal and started focusing on my health.

And things changed.

I’ve lost 70+ pounds (so far), improved my metabolic and inflammatory markers, gained energy, and learned more about my body than I ever thought I would.

And I’m still in the middle of my own health journey.

That’s important to me, because wellness isn’t a finish line. I’m continuing to learn, make changes, ask questions, and work toward feeling my best — just like the people I'm lucky enough to work with.

Now I get to combine my education with the lived experience of knowing how frustrating it can be when you’re doing your best and still don’t feel like yourself.

Middle Ground Health grew from everything I’ve learned along the way — and from my belief that we don’t have to choose between science/medicine and a more holistic approach to wellness.

We can use both. We can ask better questions. And we can find what works for YOU.

My Journey

No shortcuts. No quick fixes. No obsessive calorie counting or intense workouts that no one has time for.

My approach has never been about eating less and suffering more. It’s about learning how food can support your body — and realizing that eating healthier doesn’t mean giving up everything you love.

I still make pizza, pasta, muffins, desserts, and the foods my family actually wants to eat. I’ve just learned how much of a difference the ingredients can make.

I believe in focusing less on restriction and more on nourishment — choosing better ingredients, supporting your metabolism and gut, reducing inflammation, and giving your body what it needs to function at its best.

Because the goal isn’t to spend your life “on a diet.” It’s to build a way of eating and living that you can actually enjoy.

My Litter

To say these five little rascals keep me on my toes is an understatement. 😂

Between five kids, work, school, activities, and everything else that comes with family life, I don’t have extra hours in the day to devote to wellness — and I’m guessing you don’t either.

That’s a huge part of why real life matters so much in my approach to health.

If something requires complicated meals, hours at the gym, or a routine that falls apart the second life gets busy, it’s probably not going to last.

The changes I’ve made have become changes for our whole family — from the ingredients I cook with and the foods we keep in the house to the way we think about nutrition and taking care of our bodies. And yes, my kids still eat pizza, muffins, snacks and dessert. Healthy doesn’t have to mean miserable.

My husband has lost 30+ pounds along the way, my kids are learning healthy habits without growing up feeling like they’re “on a diet,” and we’re doing it in a way that works for our very busy, very imperfect real life.

Because wellness shouldn’t take you away from your life. It should help you live it.
